“She seems so cool, so focused, so quiet, yet her eyes remain fixed upon the horizon. You think you know all there is to know about her immediately upon meeting her, but everything you think you know is wrong. Passion flows through her like a river of blood.
She only looked away for a moment, and the mask slipped, and you fell. All your tomorrows start here.”
― Neil Gaiman, Fragile Things
growing up means realizing a lot of your old friends are assholes
MAJOR assholes.

in response to christians threatening to recite the lord’s prayer at houston county graduation ceremonies at the end of this month, i think all atheists should recite the words of carl sagan:
“For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.”
and the constitution:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
i knew i was gonna fall behind on writing this! blah, my interest in writing comes and goes.
this week the intervals are upped to a minute long, with less water breaks. surprisingly, the change didn’t effect my stamina. on tuesday i went through 3 rounds of the circuit without stopping, which was unexpected but definitely a huge encouragement. i still can’t do some of the exercises at fast as the dvd does but over time i’ll get close.
i’ve been trying to cook as much as possible, and come up with new ways to keep it interesting. at first i was eating a lot of eggs until i forgot how burned out i get on eating the same thing over and over. earlier this week i made whole wheat penne with broccoli which turned out amazing. tonight i made my own burgers, which isn’t the most healthy choice but made roasted carrots to go alongside. olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary and thyme with a bag of baby carrots = pure deliciousness!
in other news, tomorrow i am definitely finding out if i got the job or not. i am beyond nervous, but excited as well. this could be the beginning of a new chapter, and just in time for my birthday :)

definitely had a case of the mondays! today we did cardio and resistance, and at the beginning i wasn’t feeling it AT ALL. but, even after a week i can tell that my endurance is getting better and it takes longer for me to feel winded. and i’ve lost 2 pounds! baby steps :)
in other news, i applied for a calltaker position at the sheriff’s office. so far i’ve taken a cognitive test, done a panel interview, typing test, 2 hour observation with a calltaker, interview with captain and lieutenant, and a psych test. the process has taken a total of 3 months, but if i get one of the positions it will be so worth it. the only issue is, more positions opened so now i’m playing a waiting game for the other applicants to catch up. i called the office 2 weeks ago and even then there was no news. i knew there would be a lot of waiting involved, but didn’t know the process would be dragged out this far.
part of me has doubts, but me and another girl were the picks for the original 2 positions before 3 more opened up. even though mercer said she’d call me if there was ANY news, i’m still tempted to call again if there are no updates by the end of this week. i truly believe being a dispatcher is my calling, and working a public service job will be more rewarding than working at parkway has been.
